Suzie the Sallying Sea Serpent
My name is Suzie and I live way down in the deep
As a wee sea-serpent I would undulate myself to sleep
Snug as a bug in a rub-a-dub-rug I would snooze
I never suspected all that I would have to lose

Oh, how I would love to swim back home
Where the kraken frolic and sea horses roam
But now I shake and hide to save my tail
From the humans hunting shark and seal and whale

Centuries ago, it wasn't so hard or so bad
Their weapons were feeble, they only hurt me a tad
But now they've got sonics and lasers and who knows what-all
I'm the last of my kind and I've got my long tail to the wall

Each morning, I swim off to another hideaway
I curl up in crevices hoping I'll live through the day
When a ship or a diver approaches my heart skips a beat
I've wandered so far in so many years it makes me weep

The humans are on to me, they're always hunting me down
I heard I'm a legend, and getting me bags them a crown
They think I'm a monster, but they've got it backwards, I'd say
I'm not the one who is driving them off and away
